Review: Biore Aqua Jelly Makeup Remover (New & Improved) [Advertorial/Sponsored]

Biore Aqua Jelly Makeup Remover a product which I have been using since Year 2013, has a NEW and IMPROVED formula! Each bottle weighs 230ml.

Check out my review on the previous version of Biore Aqua Jelly Makeup Remover.

Compare to the previous version, the NEW Biore Aqua Jelly Makeup Remover has a smoother jelly-like texture that glides easily on skin to remove makeup with less rubbing and tugging.

the NEW version is indeed smoother and more watery than the OLD version.

It's lightweight formula and superior cleansing ability remove even waterproof makeup and rinses off easily with no sticky or greasy after-feel.

What's more, it contains 40% more moisturizing essence to leave skin dewy moist and softer! Ideal for all skin types!

Ingredients List:
Water (Aqua), Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, PEG-12 Laurate, Mineral Oil, Polyglyceryl-2 Isostearate, Isononyl Isononanoate, Decyl Glucoside, Sorbeth-30 Tetraoleate, PPG-9 Diglyceryl Ether, Fragrance (Parfum), Alcohol, Tocopherol

Usage:
1. Pump an appropriate amount (2-3 pumps) onto hands and spread evenly over face and eye area.
2. Massage gently to dissolve makeup.
3. Rinse thoroughly with water. It is not necessary to remove cleansing liquid with cotton pad or tissue.
4. For best results, apply on dry face and hands. DO NOT use facial cotton pad or tissue.

*Makeup Removal Test
*P.S: I got my mom to help me out for the demonstration pictures as it was easier for me to take the shots.

Here are the pictures featuring my mom's arm flooded with lots of makeup swatches:

Makeup used from left to right:
The Face Shop Power Perfection BB Cream
DHC Medicated Acne Concealer
DollyWink Liquid Eyeliner (waterproof)
K-Palette 1 Day Tattoo Eyeliner (waterproof)
DollyWink Eyeshadows
Maybelline Magnum Cat Eyes Mascara (waterproof)
Secret Key Sweet Glam Tint Glow

Tried and Tested
It did a good job in removing non-waterproof makeup quickly and cleanly in a few rubs, but it did not remove waterproof makeup, particularly eye makeup, as quickly. As shown in the pictures, there were still some traces of waterproof makeup left, which actually can be removed but may require a longer time to dissolve fully. So if you are the type that removes makeup in a haste, it might wear your patience. Anyway, this did not bother me much as I have a habit to use a separate makeup remover — Biore Makeup Remover for eyes & lips, that is designed for eye area.

It rinsed off easily but I felt it left a layer of 'something' that made my skin feels slippery during & after rinsing and before towel dry. Despite that, it did not make my skin feels oily or sticky after towel dry. In fact, it leaves my skin feeling much softer and moisturized.

Let's move on to...

Moisture + Oil Test
using my newly bought device from Japan to prove my claims are true.

Here's the measurement guidelines for you to refer back to later:

*P.S. Analyzing Standards:
The standard value of moisture level is 38%++, 3-5 bars (normal to very moisturized).
The standard value of oiliness (skin type) is 3 bars (normal). - means balanced, which is neither too oily nor too dry.
The standard value of cells (roughness/softness) is soft - happy face.

BEFORE:

AFTER:

Skin's moisture increased from 2 bars to 4 bars; from 34% to 46%.
Oiliness increased from 2 bars to 4 bars.
Skin's cells (.aka. skin texture) feel much softer now.

I was quite puzzled when the result for oiliness increased to 4 bars (oily level), because honestly, my skin did not feel greasy at all after towel dry. But as mentioned earlier, "...it left a layer of 'something' that made my skin feels slippery during & after rinsing and before towel dry". So I took a look at the ingredients list and found out that this product does contain mineral oil, which I guess it might be the cause that resulted in an increase in the oil level. However, it did not cause my skin to breakout as I would always proceed to a second cleanse with a facial cleanser. Therefore, I think it isn't a big issue.

In summary, in my opinion, the new Biore Aqua Jelly Makeup Remover removes non-waterproof makeup effectively and quickly. However, it may take more time to dissolve and remove waterproof makeup completely. After which, it leaves skin feeling refreshed, dewy moist and softer.

By the way, if you are planning to bring along to travel, you don't have to worry about accidental pump/leakage in your luggage or bag because it comes with a lock cap.

awesome~

The NEW Biore Aqua Jelly Makeup Remover is now available in all leading supermarkets, personal care stores and western pharmacies & departmental stores at the price of SGD$24.90.

Review: Etude House Eraser Show Remover Bar

Etude House Eraser Show Remover Bar
Description: Individually filled with Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract enriched makeup remover, this soft cotton swab instantly lifts off smudges and makeup mistakes, while leaving the rest of the makeup untouched. So convenient and compact, it is perfect for on the go quick makeup correction.

Directions:
1. Hold the bar vertically, the lid side of the bar upward. Pull up the lid in a gentle turning motion to apart both ends.
2. Leave the lid side open and let formula inside flows down and fills the opposite tip.
3. Gently apply the saturated tip of the bar to remove makeup mistakes.
4. Use a dry tip of the bar to wipe off any surplus remover. Discard swab.

Packaging:
When I first got the box of cotton swabs/buds/q-tips(whatever you called it, I will call it q-tips in this post), it is well wrapped up in a plastic wrapper.

The box of q-tips comes with a lock tab lid(?) design to secure and prevent the box lid from opening itself.

The q-tips are neatly packed in a compact-size plastic box.

The q-tips are different with the ones we normally use in our life. Each of this q-tip is filled with makeup remover in its stem and when you twist and pull off the lid side, the makeup remover will flow down through its stem to the opposite end, damping the cotton. While the cotton on the lid side remains dry. After removing the makeup smudges with the damped side, you can use the dry side to absorb any excess makeup remover or residue on your skin.

The following diagram shows you how to release the makeup remover to the opposite end:
1) Hold the bar vertically with the lid side facing upwards.
2) Gently twist and pull off the lid
3) Once the lid is pulled off, the makeup remover in the stem will flow down and damp the cotton on the other end.

Demonstration:
I thought actions would be much clearer than non-animated pictures and words hence, I recorded a video... A muted one lol. Hopefully, the actions in the video will explain clearer on how effective these q-tips work.

So, here's the video~: *apologies for the camera being out of focus... *
On a side note, you can change the video quality by going to the gear icon(setting) in the corner of the video player, and select your preferred quality.
As seen in the video, I did have a slight problem erasing the Holika Holika Jewel-like Waterproof Eyeliner... I guess...maybe I applied way too many layers. FYI, I applied 4 layers of Holika Holika Jewel-like Waterproof Gel Liner, 2 layers of Dollywink Liquid Eyeliner and 2 layers of The Face Shop Make Me Star Waterproof Gel Liner. Anyhow, I guess that's not a big problem as these remover bars are meant to cleanse up smudges and not the whole eye makeup.

In the video, I show you on how to release the makeup remover to the cotton tip and also how effective the damped q-tip cleanses makeup but err...something is missing. I forgot to show you the part on how to use the dry side. But well, I think you should know what the dry side is for huh? I mentioned just now though, but it's okay, I will repeat again~  FYI, the dry side is for removing excess makeup remover or residue that are on your skin after you cleansed the smudges.

Consistency and Color:
The makeup remover in the stem of the q-tip is in liquid form. It's colorless and non-greasy.

Scent:
It has a pleasant mild scent. I don't really know how to describe the scent but don't worry it doesn't smell bad or overpowering!

Likes:
- the "2-in-1" tips (wet - with makeup remover & dry tips)
- remove makeup smudges, including waterproof ones
- packaging! - lightweight, compact size, comes in a box etc.
- super handy!
- easy to use; mess-free!
- gentle formula
- non-greasy
- does not dry out the skin
- does not cause breakouts
- the scent

Dislikes:
- there's nothing I dislike about...

Verdict: Seriously, there's nothing I dislike about this Eraser Show Remover Bar! It is gentle, non-greasy and does not dry out the skin yet it cleanses makeup smudges effectively. Best of all, the box of q-tips is lightweight hence, it's very convenient to carry it wherever you go! I always bring a box of these q-tips in my bag because I know it may come in handy, fixing makeup imperfections. Definitely a must-have item!

Review: Biore Aqua Jelly Make-up Remover

Biore Aqua Jelly Make-up Remover
I'm sure this is already highly advertised by many bloggers but well, this is my 'quick' version of review. :D
A rinse-off make-up remover.

Description:
- Glides easily on skin to remove even waterproof makeup with less tugging
- Rinses off easily and leaves no sticky or oily residue
- Contains 1/3 moisturizing essence — nourishes and hydrates skin for a dewy moist finish

Usage:
*(For best result, apply on dry face and hands. Do not use with facial cotton pad or tissue.)*
- Pump an appropriate amount (2-3 pumps) onto hands and spread evenly over face and eye area.
- Massage gently to dissolve makeup
- Rinse thoroughly with water. It is not necessary to remove cleansing liquid with cotton pad or tissue.

Comes with a lock tab.

Consistency and color:
Transparent serum-like texture.

Scent:
I'm bad at describing scent but well, it smells reeeeeeally good!~

Likes:
- not sticky or greasy
- non-drying
- does well in removing makeup(including almost all waterproof makeup)
- glides on skin easily
- mess-free
- does not break me out
- the pump packaging :)
- the fragrance~

Dislikes:
- sting the eye
- does not completely remove my Holika Holika Magic Pole Mascara

Demonstration on my hand :)
From left to right: DHC Medicated Acne Concealer, Holika Holika Jewel-like Eyeliner, The Face Shop Make Me Star Waterproof Gel Liner, Revlon Colorstay Eyeliner, Holika Holika Magic Pole Mascara, Canmake Eye nuance Eyeshadow

Pump out the makeup remover and start gently massaging~ You can notice that the makeup is slowly dissolving...

Continue massaging...

Rinse-off with water and dry with towel.

TA-DAAA!~

It did remove almost all traces of makeup on my hand except for the Holika Holika Magic Pole mascara(waterproof). But that doesn't bother me because I seldom wear mascara and if I do wear it, the Holika Holika mascara can be easily removed using warm water. :D Nowadays I only wear BB Cream, concealer and powder foundation. So as long as the makeup remover removes all the makeup I'm wearing without drying up my face, I'm satisfied. :)

Hada Labo SHA Hydrating Make-up Remover

Odorless; it's fragrance-free :)

Likes:
- water based and hyaluronic acid formula

- non greasy; does not break me out :D
- non-drying
- easy to use
- no leakage from the pump after dispensing of the product :)
- less harsh; suits sensitive skin
- remove light makeup effortlessly
- remove light makeup without leaving a tight, squeaky clean feeling
- a little goes a long way~~~

Dislikes:
- does not remove waterproof make-up :(
- does not remove heavy make-up; works only for light to medium make-up.

Demonstration XDDD:
...massaging the product on the make-up swatches...

...and... rinse it off....
(ps for my hairy hand~ wheeeeeeeeee XPPP)
As seen from the pictures, it failed to remove my waterproof eyeliners. Well, it did not even completely remove my Revlon Colorstay eyeliner. :(

Overall, I still like this make-up remover because of it's hydrating purposes. :D For me, even though it does not remove all kinds of make-up but it doesn't really matter to me because I use separate make-up removers for my face and eyes. And... I don't apply heavy make-up; my make-up is always light or light to medium~ so as long as it removes all traces of my face make-up, I'm satisfied with it. :)

By the way, Hada Labo has another makeup remover which is called "Super Hyaluronic Acid Cleansing Oil". It's for heavy make-up and waterproof mascara so if you are a heavy make-up person, you might want to get the cleansing oil instead of this water based remover. :)

That's that. XOXO :)
