Review: Red Earth Professional Nail Color Nail Polish (06 Sunset Shell)

Red Earth Professional Nail Color Nail Polish
Description: All you need to achieve flawless fingertips and toes. The collection of classic, modern and on-trend shades pays tribute to Australia's natural beauty. The professional two-coat formula is ultra glossy, long wearing and free from DBP, toluene, formaldehyde and camphor.

Directions: Apply base coat to clean, dry, filed nails. Apply nail colour starting with one stroke down the centre of the nail, following with strokes along either side of the nail. Apply a second coat of colour, all the way to the tip.

Ingredients: Nil or Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Disodium Succinate, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Hydroxyethycellulose, Methylparaben, PPG-10 Methyl Glucose Ether, Sodium Acetylated Hyaluronate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Succinic Acid

Net Weight: 12ml

Price: SGD$15

I redeemed this nail polish from Sample Store and the color of the nail polish was sent randomly. So I received it in 06 Sunset Shell. It's a mauve pink-lavender color that is perfect for Fall/Winter season.

When I first received the nail polish, it was well-wrapped with a transparent plastic sheet, which in the picture, I have already removed it.
It comes in a sturdy glass bottle with a two-piece cap, which I don't really know what the extra cap is for... Anyway, both the caps are in matte greyish-black and are made in plastic. The square-ish shape with the engraved letters "re" is a pull off (extra) cap and the one attached to the bottle is a screw-off cap.

The nail polish comes with a broad brush tip similar to OPI, though it's slightly less wide than OPI, in my view, it still makes the application easy. The formula is excellent!; It takes two coats to get opaque. It applies smoothly and evens out perfectly by the second coat without any streaks at all! Also, it dries fast, leaving a 80% glossy finish.
P.S.: I'm not sure if it will chip or stain easily tho...

Note: Actual color may differ from picture. In reality, it's more duller... :
swatches show 2 coats with essie good to go top coat
Likes:
- free from DBP, toluene, formaldehyde and camphor
- packaging
- stay true to bottle color
- broad brush tip; easy application
- smooth, non-streaky formula
- dries fast
- glossy finish
- range consists of various colors

Dislikes:
- there's nothing I dislike about~

Neutral:
- without top coat, it's not very ultra glossy as claimed.

Verdict: I won't beat around the bush... I really like this nail polish because the formula, brush tip and color are great.

Guess what? People who reside in Singapore, you can redeem yours at Sample Store. Visit https://www.samplestore.com/r/89441 to redeem!
Note: It goes out of stock very quickly so redeem it while it's still available! If it's unavailable, then you may want to wait for the restock.

Alternatively, you can purchase it from BHG (Bugis), Metro (Causeway point), John Little (Plaza Singapura).

For the rest who aren't living in Singapore, sorry...I don't know where to get them in your country...

and... this is the finished look. :)

Likes:
- comes in a set of 3!
- the colors combination!! love it to bits~! :D
- easy to apply
- the formula is not streaky
- polish dry pretty fast on nails(if apply a thin layer)
- comes in 9 different sets of color

Dislikes:
- #1 refreshing lemon is very sheer... I only applied 1 coat and it's colorless and it is like clear... -.- I should have apply 3-4 coats... :(
- the whole bottle of #3 tangy lime(glitter) gets dried up easily!!

I don't know if it's hard to remove using nail polish remover because I applied Etude House Easy Peel-off Base Coat(Review: link) as base so I can just simply peel the polish off from my nails without the need of nail polish remover. Well, I will update you guys once I have tried it... Anyway, I really love the colors! I'm currently having it on my nails now(nail of the day/week) and it's perfect for summer~ :D

Update on 18th October 2013:
I have tried this set of nail polish with a normal base coat and well, it's hard to remove. Glitters nail polish is truly a pain to remove but looks gorgeous on the nails! HAHA~

Review: Etude House Dear My Nails Easy Peel-Off Base Coat

My Nails Easy Peel-Off Base Coat
A peel-off base coat that allows you to remove all kinds of nail polish(including glitter polish) without hassle. You don't have to use a nail polish remover and cotton pad to rub back and forth over your nails to remove the nail polish. All you need to do is to just peel it off!

Here's how the brush looks like.

Likes:
- dry fast
- remove all kinds of nail polish easily (good for glitter polish :D)
- a thin layer does the job well !
- the formula is not streaky
- easy to use and apply
- mess-free
- time saving! (for glitter polish removal)

Dislikes:
- not long-lasting; peeled nail polish off easily(chipped)
- does leave some residue on the nails after peeling off but it can be easily cleaned off using nail polish remover

At first, I applied a thick layer and it took really long to dry. I couldn't wait so I got them removed and re-apply with a thinner layer. It dried up within 1-2 minutes. Though I only applied a really thin layer, it didn't make it hard to peel off. :)

Demonstration:
P/S: I painted my nails on Friday night(31st May 2013) and peeled it off on Sunday afternoon(2nd June 2013).
Nail polish used in the demonstration~

This is how my nails looked after applying the Peel-Off Base Coat. It looks just like a normal base coat and the formula is not streaky at all.

After the base coat dried up, I continued to paint my nails with China Glaze Golden Enchantment followed by Etude House Dear My Party Nails (PBE102) and finished off with Essie Good To Go Top Coat.

This afternoon(Sunday), I decided to peel off the polish because some of it chipped off. The base coat does not keep the nail polish from chipping... it chipped itself off too...
Anyway, I picked at the edge of the polish till it lifted up and then peeled it off. It's really easy to remove! As you can notice, it does leave some residue on the nail after peeling it off but it can be easily cleaned off using nail polish remover.

 Pieces of peeled-off nail polish~

Clean nails :D

Verdict? Well, for me, I don't like to wear nail polish for long so I'm fine with the not long-lasting factor. What I like about this is... it easily remove all kinds of nail polish, including glitter polish! Glittery nails are gorgeous BUT it is so hard to get them removed! People who used glitter nail polish before should know how hard it is to remove them. (-_-")

I used to avoid wearing glitter nails because I need to spend time on removing them(almost impossible -.-) and whenever I removed them, I would ended up with a lot of mess. Little tiny glitter EVERYWHERE!(on hands, fingers, floor, table, chair, shorts, shirt etc; all stained with glitter...) This base coat prevents the mess, which is why I like it. :D

Review: Skinlite Nail Polish Remover Pads

Skinlite Nail Polish Remover Pads
Description:
- Pre-moistened, non-acetone, one-step nail polish removal treatment.
- Pads are saturated with special formulation that easily removes nail polish while conditioning cuticles and promoting healthy nails.

The product comes in a 'cheap-looking' plastic container with a plastic twist-off screw cap. It's well sealed with foil.

Contains only 36 pre-moistened pads. The thickness for each pad is quite thin.

Scent:
It has a citrus-y scent. I like it. hahahah.

Demonstration on my mom's toe nails~~ XD :
It takes a few swipes to remove the polish. :/

Likes:
- the scent
- non acetone formula
- the pre-moistened pads idea~
- leaves nails feeling not too drying as compared to other nail polish remover in liquid form
- cheap price

Dislikes:
- takes time... it takes a few swipes to remove the polish
- even if it's well-kept in the container, the pads tend to dry up easily once the foil is unsealed; can't last long

I will not repurchase this. I prefer liquid form nail polish remover because it removes nail polish quicker than this pre-moistened pad. And even if it's well-kept in the container, the pads tend to dry up easily once the foil is unsealed. If it's begin to dry up(semi-dried up), it gets much tougher to remove the nail polish. Once the pads totally dried up, it became useless............ (-.-) Well, mine dried up... lol. sigh. I'm not going to repurchase this. That's it.
